You've probably heard of chia seeds before and maybe you're wondering why everyone is talking so much about them. I used to be skeptical about these mysterious seeds because they looked wierd and they are kinda expensive. But I figured I had to try it out, so I bought them and made porridge, overnight oats and my own healthy jam out of them. It all tasted surpringsingly good so I'm definetely glad that I gave it a shot! Chia seeds are really worth buying!
Of course, the jam I made is sugar-free and it actually benefits your body because of the high content of omega 3's, fibers and proteins in the seeds. So now there's no reason not to add jam to make your meals even more tasty!
I made the jam with blueberries and raspberries but you can use any kind of fruit and berries :-)
Here's the recipe:
300 g berries or fruit
3 tbsp chia seeds
One mashed banana (optional)
Put all the berries or fruits in a saucepan over medium heat. Add honey or mashed banana as a natural sweetener. Stir and bring to a boil. Turn down to low heat and add the chia seeds until desired consistency. When it's thick enough, pour it into a jar, put the lid on and leave in the fridge overnight or for a couple of hours.
If you have a blender, this will be so much easier and faster to make. Just blend the berries/fruits and the natural sweetener until smooth and then stir in the chia seeds. Now, they don't even have to cool so you can just eat it right away!
Sadly, we don't have a blender in my house because my dad has forbid me and my sister to ever use one again after our tragic accident. One time, when we wanted to make your selves a delicious smoothie. We put almost everything we could find in the blender and got super excited to taste it. But.. we should never have started making that smoothie. Surpringsingly, we were stupid enough to forget to put the lid on. So yeah, basically there was smoothie everywhere in the kitchen and we both panicked. It was a complete mess and we tried our best to wash the whole kitchen. Unfortunately, this story doesn't have a happy ending because my dad busted us when he came home from work.
